Maria's Gravy Pot

Today is Matt Apelli's birthday. The Apelli family tradition is to start work in the family restaurant on the day of their 18th birthday. Business, however, has been floundering as of late and Matt's father has a more impotant job for him: to work at Maria's Gravy Pot, a far more successful establishment. Matt's job is to steal Maria's 100 year old recipe for sauce, or should I say gravy? After some typical bullying from his older brother and feelings of guilt over his recently turned ill father, Matt takes on the misson. When he arrives, however, Matt finds himself in the middle of situations he could have never expected, including his first crush. He has a few rough interactions early on with the staff, but Matt ultimately finds Maria and her stage performing husband and co-owner, Peter, to be a little crazy, but nice...kinda. Matt soons forgets his obligation to his family and rushes to the aid of Maria's Gravy Pot when they too begin to reveal some financial woes. With rising pressure from his older brother, mixed advice from his father, a new flame, and a sense of obligation to his new job things quickly unravel for Matt. It's a coming of age story about growing up and how it can sometimes all happen to you at once.
