The Willing Suspension of Disbelief (thewillingsuspensionofdisbelief.com) - Saturday, March 31st, 10:45am Downtown Buffalo/Theatre District, Market Arcade Screen 1

The Willing Suspension of Disbelief is a modern crime drama about a group of filmmakers who enter the very underworld depicted in their film in a desperate attempt to steal the money they need to finish their production. Quentin, their leader, is in a desperate search for an audience whose validation, he believes, will lend meaning not just to his films, but to his very existence. Quentin delves deeper into the criminal world as he indulges his own fantasies of being a “wiseguy” while simultaneously trying to complete his project. The story weaves in and out of the real world and Quentin’s film, challenging the audience’s perception of reality and exploring the existential theme of whether meaning comes from within or without.

The Cast:

DIRECTOR STATEMENT
Ryan Hauser graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with highest honors from the University of Oklahoma. He went back to OU for a short time to study film before going on to attend The American Film Institute's Center for Advanced Film and Television Studies as a Producing Fellow. After, producing several short films, Ryan left Hollywood to teach Latin and World History at a High School in Tulsa. He then went on to attend Law School at the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with Highest Honors. Ryan continued writing screenplays and got back into filmmaking after a chance meeting with his co-director, Brandon Maxwell, an old friend from film school. Together they began tossing around ideas for a film they could produce locally on a shoestring budget. Ryan pitched the idea for "The Willing Suspension of Disbelief," a story that he had conceived many years ago when they were in film school at OU. They began working on the project and completed it only 3 short years later.

This film was shot over the course of a year and was entirely self-financed. This was the first venture into the feature film world for almost everyone involved.
