A
Short History -
Thursday, March 29th, 9:55pm Riviera Theatre
Roger
reflects on his childhood and muses how it
may have changed the course of his life.
He recounts his history into a tape recorder.
As he does so he continues down a road of
increasing violence, staggering toward a
bitter end. The people he meets along the
way include taciturn accomplices, victims,
and a lone bright spot. As his road of inevitability
narrows, Roger struggles to come to terms
with his past, and possibly hold onto the
thin thread of a future.
DIRECTOR
STATEMENT
"A Short History" is a very personal work for me. While its fictional plot certainly
deviates from my own childhood, many characters are composite sketches of real
people that have influenced me throughout my life. The violence in the film is
detached, and its being offscreen is particularly significant for the world I
was attempting to portray.
